SUPREME Research showcased at NANOTEXNOLOGY 2026 in Thessaloniki

The SUPREME project was represented at the 23rd International Conference on Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies (NN26), held from 7–10 July 2026 in Thessaloniki, Greece, where Foteini Gerodimou from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) presented recent research developed within the framework of the project.

During the WS3: Nanomedicine session on Thursday, 9 July 2026, from 10:30 to 10:45, Foteini Gerodimou presented the work entitled:

Anti-fungal Activity of SiO₂@Ag/CeO₂ Nanocomposite: The Role of CeO₂ Nanoparticles and Reactive Oxygen Species

The presentation focused on the development and evaluation of SiO₂@Ag/CeO₂ nanocomposites, investigating the role of CeO₂ nanoparticles and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in enhancing antifungal activity. The research contributes to a better understanding of how nanocomposite materials can be designed to improve antimicrobial performance and support the development of advanced coating solutions.

In addition to the oral presentation, SUPREME research was also showcased through a poster presentation entitled:

Photocatalytic Antifungal Activity of SiO₂@Ag Core-Shell Nanoparticles against Aspergillus niger: In vitro and In situ Evaluation

This work, presented by the NKUA team, explored the photocatalytic antifungal performance of SiO₂@Ag core-shell nanoparticles against Aspergillus niger, including evaluations under controlled laboratory conditions and in coated textile environments.

By participating in NANOTEXNOLOGY 2026, SUPREME continues to strengthen the dissemination of its research results, engage with the international scientific community and contribute to advancing innovative antimicrobial coating technologies.
