Save the Date: Joint SUPREME and Triple-A-COAT Workshop

The EU-funded projects SUPREME and Triple-A-COAT are jointly organising a workshop to be held on 26–27 August 2026 in Ghent, Belgium. The event will bring together leading research and innovation initiatives in the field of antimicrobial coatings, with contributions also expected from related projects to be announced.

SUPREME is developing sustainable, safe and multifunctional antimicrobial nanocoatings based on advanced nanoparticles and bio-based materials to effectively reduce the spread of pathogens on surfaces. Triple-A-COAT is developing new coatings based on functionalised nanocellulose and several nature-inspired antimicrobial strategies. Together, these projects aim to address key challenges in the design, performance and deployment of next-generation antimicrobial surfaces.

The workshop will feature project presentations, thematic sessions and a dedicated exploitation workshop. Discussions will focus on:

• Common challenges in the development of antimicrobial coatings
• Opportunities for the exploitation of innovative solutions in antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal applications, particularly for frequently touched surfaces

The workshop is open to stakeholders from industry, the public sector and the research community. Participation will be possible both in person and online.

The event will begin at midday on 26 August and conclude in the late afternoon of 27 August. Registration will be free of charge.
