SUPREME is part of the Circular, Sustainable and Biobased Coating Cluster
- 13/05/2026
SUPREME joined the Circular, Sustainable and Biobased Coating Cluster, a European collaboration platform bringing together EU-funded projects working on the next generation of high-performance, sustainable, circular and bio-based coatings.
Facilitated by European Bioplastics, the Cluster supports knowledge exchange between projects developing innovative coating solutions that reduce reliance on fossil-derived materials and improve the end-of-life performance of coated products. Its activities span material innovation, the application of Safe and Sustainable-by-Design approaches, and the validation of coating solutions across sectors such as textiles, food packaging, construction materials, marine applications and more.
Through regular technical meetings and expert-led workshops, the Cluster encourages collaboration, shared learning and joint activities among projects active in coatings research and innovation. Meetings are organised approximately every six months and focus on topics selected by the Cluster community.
As part of this initiative, SUPREME contributes its expertise in the development of multifunctional antimicrobial nanocoatings that are both effective and sustainable. Our project focuses on advanced coating systems designed to improve performance against harmful pathogens while integrating bio-based materials, sustainability considerations and a Sustainable-by-Design approach. SUPREME aims to scale these advanced coatings towards industrial readiness.
SUPREME joined other EU-funded projects in the Cluster, including BIO4COAT, BLUECOAT and BIO-SUSHY, reinforcing a shared commitment to accelerate Europe’s transition towards circular, sustainable and bio-based coating technologies.
Through its participation in the Cluster, SUPREME will continue to exchange knowledge, build synergies with related EU-funded projects and contribute to the development of safer, more sustainable and circular coating solutions for Europe.
